Who knew the bread would turn out so well for many of you?! Thanks for trying.
We’ve talked a lot about being risk takers this week. The yogurt we made yesterday was typical of the yogurt in Sudan. Mmmmm
We look forward to having Kara Aina (Gavin’s mom) talk to us on Thursday about how she uses math to make clothing.
Thank you to Dot Verbrugge (Joey’s mom) and Julie Reese (Aaron’s mom) for their guest appearances this week!
Please note that there is no school Friday, March 26th. The 25th is the end of the quarter. We will be reassessing spelling groups at that time.
Save the date- We will be going on a field trip to Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum on March 31st. This is a Wednesday, but it is a short day. There is no school Thursday, Friday, or Monday due to spring break.
Objectives for this week:
- I can read and spell words with consonant /s/c as in city, circle, mice, and ice.
- I can read these words: always, does, even, pretty, say, sound, almost, once -I can use describing words to describe size, color, and shape.
-I can write a four page fantasy story independently with a minimum of two sentences on each page.
-I can spell our learned sight words correctly in my personal writing, either from memory or by using the word wall.
-I can apply all learned spelling patterns to my personal writing. (All students should be using a silent e on long vowel words, or using the correct spelling.) -I can draw a line of symmetry on an existing shape.
-I can identify whether or not a shape is symmetrical.
-I can use addition to solve subtraction problems.
-I can identify how math is used in art.
Spelling for the next two weeks::
Pizza- sort into two groups- short a and short i. Focus on the initial blends (dr, pl, etc) when spelling.
Mac and Cheese- short u (cup), long u (tube), oddball is “put”
Whiz Kids- short e (less), long e spelled ee (feet), long e spelled ea (mean), oddball is been
